All Types of AI Prompt Keywords

Learn useful prompt words and instructions for writing, education, research, coding, data analysis, office work, translation, images, video, websites, productivity, career development and many other tasks.

Important: These are general instructions that can be used with ChatGPT and other AI tools. Slash commands such as /generateimage work only when a particular platform supports them.

Universal Prompt Formula

A strong prompt normally contains these six parts:

Role + Task + Context + Requirements + Output Format + Constraints

Where Should Prompt Keywords Be Placed?

Keywords may appear before, inside or after the main prompt. The correct position depends on whether the words are normal instructions or special platform syntax.

Main difference: Normal descriptive words are usually flexible. However, slash commands, image references, negative-prompt fields and technical parameters may have a required position or a separate input box.
1

Platform Command — Beginning

A slash command tells the application which tool or action to start. It is not normally part of the creative description.

/generateimage [your image description]
2

Role and Main Action — Beginning

Start with the role or task when it controls the entire answer. This gives the AI a clear working direction.

Act as a teacher. Explain photosynthesis...
3

Main Subject and Context — Early

State the most important subject, person, object, problem or document before adding decorative or secondary details.

A green leaf showing the process of photosynthesis...
4

Style and Supporting Details — Middle

Add style, tone, camera angle, lighting, audience, examples and supporting requirements after the main task or subject.

..., 3D cutaway view, scientific illustration, realistic lighting...
5

Output Rules and Restrictions — Ending

End with format, length, exclusions, must-have items and other conditions that control the final result.

Use bullet points, under 150 words, include 3 examples, avoid jargon.
6

Technical Parameters — Usually Ending

Some image and video platforms parse special codes only at the end. Their exact spelling and allowed values depend on the platform.

[description] --ar 16:9 --no watermark

When Position Usually Does Not Matter Much

  • Photorealistic, cinematic, professional or minimalist
  • Friendly tone, formal tone or simple language
  • Natural lighting, white background or high detail
  • Bullet points, table format or include examples
  • Normal instructions written as clear sentences

When Position or Separate Fields Matter

  • Slash commands used to start a particular tool
  • Platform parameters such as aspect ratio or variation controls
  • Image URLs or reference images required at a specific location
  • Negative prompts entered in a separate Negative Prompt box
  • Weights, delimiters or special symbols recognized by one platform
[Platform Command] + [Role/Action] + [Main Subject or Task] + [Context] + [Style/Tone] + [Output Format] + [Restrictions] + [Technical Parameters]

Text Prompt Example

Act as an experienced science teacher. Explain photosynthesis to a Class 8 student. Use simple language and one real-life example. Present the answer in five bullet points and end with three quiz questions.

General Image Prompt Example

Create an educational image of photosynthesis inside a green leaf, 3D cutaway view, scientific illustration, realistic lighting, clear labels, clean composition, white background, high detail, no watermark, 16:9 format.

Platform-Specific Parameter Example

/imagine photosynthesis inside a green leaf, 3D cutaway view, scientific illustration, realistic lighting --ar 16:9 --no watermark
Note: Commands beginning with /, parameters beginning with symbols such as --, weighting marks and negative-prompt boxes are platform-specific. Do not copy them blindly into every AI tool. Check the tool’s current prompt help before using special syntax.
